What to expect during the tryout process
Tryouts will be held at Tuma Soccer Complex at 3239 C Ave Ext, Marion IA 52302
Players should try to attend all nights so coaches can get a good observation of the player
Players should bring ball, water bottle, cleats and shin guards
Upon arrival, players need to check in at the registration table. Participants will receive a numbered shirt for coaches to identify players for observation.
Coaches will run players through a 15-20 minute warmup that will include some dribbling and passing
The remaining time the players will go through different activities and a scrimmage
Coaches will be evaluating the players in multiple areas during the tryout including:
Technical abilities – how well their ball control is, passing accuracy, first touch
Tactical abilities – how well you understand the game and positional play
Physical abilities – how well do you handle yourself on the field
Coachability – are you able to take feedback from coaches and make corrections
What to expect after the tryout process
When tryouts are completed, we will review the evaluations and select players to offer roster spots to.
Offers will go out by email on June 12th at 8:00 am for 13u players and younger and June 19th at 8:00 am for 14u players and older
Parents should accept or decline the spot as soon as possible. If you decline your spot, we will offer to the next player on the list.
If you don’t receive an offer around 8:00 am that may mean that your player may not have been in the top of the list to receive spots and are on the list of players if someone declines.
If the team gets filled up, there will be an opportunity to join the core program.
